MEET
ASHLEY.
People have always fascinated me. For as long as I can remember I have been curious about who people were; how did they end up where they are now; and was it were they had intended to be? Quite often I would gracefully walk pass individuals or couples and rhetorically ask myself, those simple, yet complex questions. My answers would formulate based on what I believed I had learned from observing their behavior or gathered from overhearing their tale of events. This keen interest in people's stories made me more incline to formally learn effective ways to tell their story, so that it facilitates awareness, healing, and the grace to charter their future.

That level of curiosity is how I approach working with clients. Inquiring about your journey, the detours and the destination, letting you matter. It was important for me to obtain the correct knowledge to draw out the story of others in a way that is compassion and human-centered.

Obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Bethune-Cookman University, a Historically Black College and University. Furthered my studies at The Johns Hopkins University obtaining a Master of Science in Counseling. During my time at The Johns Hopkins University, I studied abroad at New College, Oxford University. Currently, attending Cornell University in The Bank of America Institute for Women’s Entrepreneurship.

Following my academic pursuit I parked my degrees and became a self taught technologist working with cloud solutions for several years with large consulting firms. As a technologist my knowledge of behavioral science was heavily relied upon to develop and grow professional talent as well as massage the human-centered aspect of a technology solution. While behavioral science and mental health seemed distant, I could not help the unwavering gravitational pull toward facilitating healing and revelation for others, so that they are able to make sense of their own story in a way that grants them their own version of freedom and healing.

Through volunteering with various mental health organizations, such as Anne Arundel Counseling, Cornerstone Montgomery, Youth Advocate Program, and spiritual organizations, I remained impassioned facilitating the therapeutic experiences for individual and groups. Each opportunity enabled me to mature as a therapist that lets you matter the most by allowing you to tell your unabridged story with a degree of validation that bears a witness to your trials, transitions, and triumphs. Undeniably, I have learned the most through the stories of my clients, that it is always the right time to start your healing journey.

It is my highest honor and calling to serve as a Healer, Counselor, Servant, Imperfectionlogist, and a proud member of the Human Race whom too has a story that needed grace, compassion, healing, and hope. I too went on the journey that you are contemplating and it offers the correct amount of challenge and change for me to Keep Ascending.

My Approach
While I incorporate a variety of modalities into my work, I tend to leverage existential theories with a focus on the here-and-now. This means that we explore that breadth of your life, past and present, yet empathy discuss how interpersonal relationship characteristics may be present within our session. Therefore, paying attention to what’s happening not just in the room—between you and me—during our sessions.
Honoring these experiences are pivot to better understand emotions and developing awareness about how those emotions and behaviors may inform you about how your experiences dwell among you and other, so that we can establish the most effective ways to help you meet your goals.
Taking an approach that allows you to matter the most in the session will enable more understanding about the cause and effects of your experiences. The notion will be to help you move along in your journey as a fellow Traveler.
